1. When you started making music, you were both still teens, which is great. Now you both have evolved musically? Can you explain to us your evolution from first electro to techno?
We tried a lot of stuff out when we were younger and eventually settled comfortably with making techno with Clouds. we still do a lot of different music at home as we’re interested in lots of different things.
2. Why did you choose this name: Clouds? And how can your sound be described?
Calum’s second name is Macleod and we are pretty lazy and figured Clouds would be alright. I think our sound is pretty UK sounding, a bit rougher and not very polished.
3. You are both from Scotland, and your sound has a lot of influence from UK techno. Who were or who are your music heros? And who’s your Italian favourite DJ?
Regis is definitely in there
Lory D is very very good, I think he’s one of my favourites for sure.
4. What is the meaning of Club Culture to you and where it is more heartfelt?
it’s good for people to go out have a laugh and let loose from everyday life, I don’t think there is a place where it’s more heartfelt then anywhere else. everywhere we’ve been and played the vibe is pretty similar, it’s universal.
5. So this will be your debut on Electric Deluxe and you will also be playing at this very special Electric Deluxe vs Dystopian party that will take place in Rotterdam on February 5th. What do you think about brining these two labels together?
it’s a very cool idea, both labels are putting out quality, interesting music and to combine them both at a party is another example of the labels looking to explore different possibilities. we’re very excited to be a part of Electric Deluxe and the party in February.
6. What do you have planned for the near future, for you as DJs, producers and as label bosses of Turbo Recordings?
We’re writing more music than the last couple years which we’re happy about so planning on having a little more output in 2016.
This is the debut of clouds on Electric Deluxe coming out on the same day of the Electric Deluxe VS Dystopian event in Rotterdam FEB 5, the same day of their debut release on the Speedy J’s label.

1. Quando avete iniziato a produrre musica eravate ancora adolescenti, e ciò è notevole. Ora che vi siete evoluti musicalmente, potreste spiegarci come è avvenuta l’evoluzione dall’electro alla techno?
Abbiamo provato un sacco di roba mentre eravamo giovani e ci siamo trovati meglio producendo techno con Clouds. A casa sperimentiamo ancora tante musiche differenti dato che ci interessano molte cose.
2. Perché avete scelto l’alias Clouds? E come può essere descritto il vostro sound?
Il secondo nome di Calum è Macleod e dato che siamo piuttosto pigri abbiamo pensato che Clouds andasse bene. Penso che il nostro sound sia molto UK, un po’ più ruvido non molto raffinato.
3. Siete entrambi scozzesi, ed il vostro sound è influenzato molto dalla techno UK. Quali sono i vostri eroi musicali? E chi è il vostro DJ italiano preferito?
Regis è sicuramente tra questi.
Lory D è davvero bravo, penso sia uno dei nostri preferiti sicuramente.
4. Cosa significa per voi Club Culture e dove la sentite più sinceramente rispettata?
Fa bene alle persone uscire, ridere e lasciarsi andare rispetto alla vita di tutti i giorni, non penso ci sia un posto dove questo comportamento sia più sincero rispetto ad altri. Ovunque siamo stati ed abbiamo suonato il vibe è piuttosto simile, universale.
5. Quindi questo sarà il vostro debutto su Electric Deluxe e suonerete all’evento speciale Electric Deluxe vs. Dystopian che si terrà a Rotterdam il 5 Febbraio. Cosa ne pensate rispetto al connubio di queste due etichette?
E’ davvero un’idea figa. Entrambe le label rilasciano qualità, musica interessante e combinarle in un party è un ulteriore esempio di due etichette che cercano possibilità differenti. Siamo molto contenti di esser parte integrante di Electric Deluxe e del party di Febbraio.
6. Quali sono i vostri piani per il futuro?
Stiamo scrivendo molta più musica rispetto agli ultimi due anni, cosa di cui siamo felici, quindi vorremmo dedicarci più alle performance per il 2016.
