Il Festival Forte ha inizio il 22 agosto per terminare la notte del 25. La location che ospiterà l’evento è il Castello di Montemor-o-Velho, in Portogallo.
Dallo scenario perfetto e suggestivo, l’evento si presenta come una linea di congiunzione tra il passato, il presente e il futuro della musica elettronica più ricercata da tutto il globo.

La direzione artistica ha voluto riunire sotto il nome di un unico festival artisti che hanno scritto la storia della musica techno internazionale come: Dave Clarke, Oscar Mulero, Freddy K, Abdulla Rashim e Paula Temple.
Allo stesso tempo la line up è resa particolarmente interessante da alcuni nuovi progetti che in questo momento fanno gola a tantissime realtà europee.
Parliamo di progetti come “Pleiadan Key Tones” di Jonas Kopp, Lotus Eater nuovo progetto di Lucy e Rrose oppureTR-101 che vede in consolle Sleeparchive e DJ Pete.
Attesissime però sono anche la performance di Reeko e Psyk per la prima volta insieme e Luxor, che vede la collaborazione tra Shlømo e Antigone.
Questi sono solo alcuni dei dettagli che rendono quella del Festival Forte un’esperienza incredibile.
Lasciatevi coccolare dal sole d’estate, la grande bellezza del Portogallo e soprattutto aprite bene le orecchie per ascoltare tutta la buona musica che volete.
Tra i grandi nomi protagonisti presentati dal Festival Forte per l’edizione del 2019 abbiamo avuto l’occasione di intervistare il Barone Rosso, o meglio conosciuto come Dave Clarke.
Artista eclettico e che nel corso della sua lunga carriera mai è volto scendere a compromessi, rimanendo sempre sulla stessa linea e dettando legge nel panorama techno mondiale.
ITALIAN – ENGLISH
1. Ciao Dave, è veramente un piacere riuscire a intervistarti visto il tuo notevole percorso artistico. Sei in attività dal 1990 e la tua musica ha cresciuto più di una generazione. Molte persone sostengono che la dancefloor è in crisi e che ai più giovani manchino “la mentalità” e i “valori” che hanno contraddistinto i clubbers degli anni 90. Credi sia un’opinione troppo estrema o qualcosa è realmente cambiato?
È sempre facile incolpare i “giovani”, ma nella realtà si tratta dei “vecchi” che, solo per guadagno, hanno portato la situazione a essere quella che è. Certo, ci sono le persone in pista da ballo con l’ADHD e il telefonino in mano e sì, il tribalismo si è un po’ perso anche perchè la musica è così facilmente accessibile di questi tempi. Ma molti manager oramai pensano solo ai soldi, ed è la ragione principale per la quale la scena techno (che in realtà è più tech-house) è diventata cosi’ commerciale.
2. La tua carriera è ricca di successi. Moltissimi giovani artisti ammirano il tuo percorso e sperano di raggiungere almeno la metà degli obiettivi che tu hai brillantemente superato. Ma come qualsiasi grande artista avrai avuto anche momenti difficili. Hai mai pensato di dover lasciare il mondo della musica?
Molte volte, il viaggiare non mi è mai piaciuto più di tanto, come anche la mancanza di sonno, ma mi piace ancora la musica e mi sento sempre più come se fossi un’isola d’indipendenza nel panorama commerciale, quindi mi sento quasi obbligato a continuare a combattere.
3. So che sarà difficile viste le tue numerosissime pubblicazioni ma guardando la tua discografia quale disco o album credi ti abbia particolarmente segnato?
Sinceramente credo proprio il mio ultimo lavoro, è l’unico album che ho fatto senza alcuna pressione da nessuna etichetta e quindi ho potuto fare quello che sentivo.
D’altronde, credo che non avessi prodotto il mio primo lavoro non sarei arrivato qui, quindi ogni album ha un suo significato, ma sicuramente il mio ultimo è quello di cui mi sento più orgoglioso.
4. Che consiglio daresti ai giovani artisti che sperano di affermarsi professionalmente nel mondo del djing proprio come hai fatto tu?
Dipende, se vuoi essere professionista solo per soldi non hai bisogno di talento o capacità, basta solo un buon feed Instagram e comprarsi un po’ di followers, poi basta sembrare impegnato dietro i piatti, ballare come se avessi il culo che prude e con una iperattività che sembra che tu stia facendo qualcosa, ma in realtà non stai facendo nulla; dopodichè basta quindi ottenere un manager che non è riuscito ad essere un artista e che prova risentimento per l’intera scena abbastanza da sabotarla…oppure potresti essere onesto, sbattere la faccia contro gli ostacoli, cercare di superarli, crearti una storia, avere soprattutto passione e prendere la strada più lunga, e diventare come me e come tanti altri che sono riusciti ad avere una lunga e meritata carriera.
5. In questi 30 anni quasi hai avuto modo di suonare nei migliori club del mondo e di conoscere moltissime realtà. Se dovessi elencare tre città dal pubblico più caldo e scatenato, quale sceglieresti?
È una domanda trabocchetto! L’artista professionista ti dirà sempre, considerato anche il tipo di intervista, che è la città dove sta per suonare… Onestamente per me il miglior pubblico cambia di anno in anno.
6. Quest’anno ci sei anche tu tra i protagonisti del Forte Festival. Realtà che anno dopo anno ha trovato modo di affermarsi tra i grandi festival di musica elettronica europea. Come ti senti in vista di questa nuova esperienza?
Non vedo veramente l’ora, io e il Portogallo abbiamo una lunga e bellissima storia!

The artistic direction has brought together artists who have forged the history of international techno music as: Dave Clarke, Oscar Mulero, Freddy K, Abdulla Rashim and Paula Temple.
But, at the same time, the line up is also filled by many new projects that in this moment are shaking so many European realities: projects like “Pleiadan Key Tones” by Jonas Kopp, Lotus Eater (the new project of Lucy and Rrose) or TR-101, with Sleeparchive and DJ Pete in the console.
Another notable performances are the collaboration between Reeko and Psyk for the first time and Luxor, the new duo project of Shlømo and Antigone.
These are just some of the details that make the Festival Forte an incredible experience.

Among the big protagonists of the Festival Forte 2019 edition we had the opportunity to interview the Red Baron, better known as Dave Clarke, an eclectic artist who, during his long and succesful career, had never made compromises, always being true to himself and setting the bar in the world techno scene.
1.Hi Dave, it’s really nice to have this interview with you given your remarkable artistic career. You’ve been in business since 1990 and your music has grown more than a generation. Many people say that the dancefloor is struggling and that younger people lack the “mentality” and “values” that marked the clubbers of the 90s. Do you think it’s too extreme an opinion or do you believe something is changed?
It is always easy to blame “the younger people” whereas in reality it is the “older people” that have driven it in this direction purely for money. Yes there is dance floor ADHD with mobile phones and yes the tribalism has been lost due to that music is so easily accessible these days. But many managers are now only pushing for money, and they are the main reason why the Techno scene (which is really tech-house) has become so commercial.
2. You have a very succesful career. A lot of young artists admire your journey and they hope to achieve at least half of the goals you have brilliantly achieved. However, like any great artist you will also have had difficult moments. Have you ever thought about leaving the music industry?
Many times, the travel has never been fun, the lack of sleep too, but I still enjoy the music and feel more and more like an island of independence in the commercial scene so almost feel honour bound to keep fighting.
3. I know it will be really hard (given your numerous releases), but when you look at your discography, which record or album do you think has particularly marked you?
I honestly feel my last one, it is the only album I made with no pressure from any label and therefore I could do what I felt like. Without my first album though I wouldn’t have got here, so each album has a meaning but my last one is the one I feel proudest of.
4. What advice would you give to young artists who hope to go pro in the world of DJing?
Depends, if you want to be pro just for money you do not need talent or ability, just a good Instagram feed with bought followers, then look busy behind the decks, dance as if you have an itchy arse and with a kind of hyperactivity that looks like you are doing something but you are not, then get a manager that failed at being an artist and resents the whole scene enough to sabotage it……or you could be honest , face up to failures, try to overcome them, have a story, have a passion and take the long route and be like me and others that have long careers.
5. In these 30 years you have had the chance to play in the best clubs in the world and to get to know many different situations. If you could list three cities with the warmest and wildest audience, which one would you choose?
That is a trick question! Professionally advised artist will always list the city they are playing in regarding the interview….honestly it changes from year to year 😉
6. This year you are among the main acts of the Forte Festival, which is an event that year after year has found a chance to stand out among the great European electronic music festivals. How do you feel about this new experience?
I am really looking forward to it, I have a long history with Portugal!
