RedazioneGli Inner City raccontano del loro nuovo album, “We All Move Together”, pubblicato a distanza di più di 30 anni da “Big Fun”.
“We All Move Together”, un titolo che significa molto, specialmente per gli Inner City, in questo momento storico imperversato da una severa crisi che colpisce gravemente tutto il mondo, ma in particolar modo l’integrazione e la socialità.
Kevin Saunderson insieme a suo figlio Dantiez e la cantante Steffanie cercano di portare alla ribalta quel good vibe che ha indubbiamente indirizzato la musica dance di tutto il mondo all’inizio dei magici ’90.
Tutto l’album vuole essere un inno alla dance culture ed è stato concepito per essere suonato live sui palcoscenici dei grandi festival a cui molti di noi sperano di assistere presto.

Ciao Kevin, Dantiez e Stefanie, sono molto felice di saperne di più riguardo alla rinascita di questo progetto e del le vostre idee future. Non riesco a immaginare come ci si possa sentire dopo più di 30 anni da “Big Fun”. Ci vuoi dire qualcosa di più?
Siamo davvero felici di riportare un po’ di positività nel mondo in questo periodo.
(A KEVIN) Due nuovi componenti ora sono nella squadra, tuo figlio e la bella Steff. È stato difficile formare questa squadra o è stato naturale? Chi è il più entusiasta?
Direi Steffanie: è un’artista incredibile in attesa di un’opportunità per esibirsi di fronte a grandi folle, per lei questa è un’esperienza molto emozionante.
Come ti senti ad avere tuo figlio come braccio destro? Dovrei fargli la stessa domanda?
È molto gratificante. Vedere Dantiez immergersi nella musica e vedere in lui la stessa etica del lavoro che avevo una volta è fantastico. Essere capace di vedere un’estensione di me stesso è bellissimo, è proprio come guardare me stesso di nuovo!
(A DANTIEZ) Vedi tuo padre come il tuo mentore o come un membro della band?
Lo vedo come entrambi! È davvero bello lavorare con mio padre – con lui riesco a fondere suoni del passato e del presente per creare questo suono ibrido, è davvero gratificante.
(A KEVIN) Questo album suona nuovo, fresco e pulito. Ci vuoi dire qualcosa in più sul processo di produzione? Ti stai ancora divertendo con vecchi strumenti?
Sì, il modo in cui abbiamo realizzato questo album è una combinazione di vecchia e nuova tecnologia. Ho usato il vecchio mixer per insegnare a mio figlio Dantiez cose nuove attraverso le tecnologie più vecchie.
(A STEFFANIE) Hai un’eredità importante da confermare, ho ascoltato la promo e wow, hai davvero una bella voce. Qual è il tuo obiettivo numero uno per questo progetto?
Sono contento che tu abbia avuto la possibilità di ascoltare e grazie mille per il complimento. Il mio obiettivo numero uno per questo progetto è raggiungere livelli che non avrei mai potuto immaginare. Queste sono alcune delle canzoni più edificanti e positive che abbia mai registrato e non solo meritano un posto nelle classifiche, ma anche nei film, spot pubblicitari e nel cuore delle persone. Tutti, non importa la razza, la religione o il credo, possono trovare un po’ di gioia in questo progetto.
(A STEFFANIE) Vuoi dirci qualcosa sul processo di registrazione? Sono stati 18 mesi in studio, ci racconti qualcuna delle emozioni più intense?
Sono stata in gruppi e sono stata una cantante rock praticamente per tutta la mia vita. Questo album e il processo di registrazione con Kevin e Dantiez sono stati certamente diversi da quello a cui sono abituata. Davvero, mi hanno lasciato fare cosa volevo ed ho apprezzato molto, mi hanno dato molta fiducia.
(A STEFFANIE) Produzione musicale o esecuzione dal vivo, cosa è più importante per te?
La produzione viene prima e gli spettacoli dal vivo vengono con essa, se non puoi fare le produzioni non puoi fare lo spettacolo dal vivo quindi sì, la produzione è sicuramente più importante. Tuttavia in questi giorni non puoi guadagnare solo facendo musica, devi andare in tour, è questo che porta i soldi.

Hello Kevin, Dantiez and Stefanie, I am very happy to know more about the rebirth of this project and the future. I cannot imagine how you feel after 30 years from Big Fun. Do you want to tell us something more?
We are just so happy to bring the positivity back to the world at such a needed time.
Two new components are now in the team, your son and the beautiful Steff. Was it hard to form this team or it came naturally? Who is the most excited to be an Inner City member?
I would say Steffanie – she’s an incredible performer and she has been waiting for an opportunity to perform in front of big crowds, so for her, this is an exciting experience.
(To KEVIN) How do you feel about having your kid as your right arm? Should I ask him the same question?
It’s so rewarding. To see Dantiez fall into the music and watch him having the same work ethic as I used to have is so great. Being able to see an extension of myself is so rewarding, it’s just like watching myself all over again!
(TO DANTIEZ) Do you see your father as your mentor or as a band member?
I see him as both! It’s really cool to work with my dad – I get to fuse two sounds of the past and the present with him. We join together to make this nice hybrid in sound and that’s really rewarding.
(TO KEVIN) This album sounds new, fresh, and pristine. Do you want to tell us something more about the production process? Are you still having fun with old instruments?
Yes, the way I did this album is a combination of old and new technology, I have been using the old mixing board so I could teach my son Dantiez new things through old technology.
(To STEFFANIE) You have an important legacy to confirm, I have listened to the promo and wow, you’ve got power in your chords. What is your number one goal for this project?
I’m glad you had a chance to listen and thank you so very much for the compliment. My number one goal for this project is for it to reach heights I could never imagine. These are some of the most uplifting and positive songs I’ve ever recorded and not only do they deserve a place in the charts, but also in movies, commercials, and in people’s hearts. Everyone, no matter race, religion or creed can find some joy in this project.
(To STEFFANIE) Do you want to tell us something about the recording process? It was 18 months in the studio, can you recall three of the most intense emotions?
I’ve been in bands and have been a rock singer pretty much all my life. This album and the recording process with Kevin and Dantiez was certainly different than what I’m used to, but also such a great and cathartic experience. Really, they just let me do my thing which I appreciated, That shows a level of trust that I am happy to say I’ve earned with them.
(A STEFFANIE) Despite what happened in the last months, you have been booked to play some amazing stages in the past year. Music production or playing live shows, what is more, important for you?
Production comes first and live-shows come with it. If you cannot make the productions you cannot do the live show so yes production is more important. However these days you can’t make money from just themusic, you have to tour and that’s what brings the money in.
