RedazioneGli Âme ci riportano in mente un vecchio cartone animato, diventato negli anni un pilastro della mia infanzia: “Non sono house, non sono techno, sanno solo quello che non sono…”.
In tutti questi dubbi però, noi qualcosina l’abbiamo capita, che sicuramente gli Âme non sono scontati, mai lineari, mai nemmeno lontanamente simili a se stessi, addirittura quasi difficilmente riconoscibili spesso e volentieri.
Noi abbiamo avuto il piacere di incontrarlo e di fare un chiacchierata con Kristian Beyer, in occasione della sua esibizione di questa sera, sabato 15 ottobre 2016 al party Nobody’s Perfect del Tenax di Firenze insieme a Philipp (tutte le info qui).

Spesso i deejay cercano un proprio stile da proporre, qualcosa che li caratterizzi, un sound che sia solo il loro, la ricerca di Frank Wiedemann e Kristian Beyer si muove in una direzione più ampia, quello che sarà il sound del futuro.
Le possibilità di adagiarsi sugli allori c’erano, magari dopo il boom incredibile di ‘Rej’, seguendo quella linea produttiva vi sareste tolti parecchi sfizi, magari con meno sforzi. Cosa vi ha spinto a cambiare tutto subito?
Penso sia una questione di carattere. Non vogliamo ripeterci, e sopratutto, quando lavoriamo insieme è ancora più difficile soddisfare entrambi.
Visionari quindi, ma anche introspettivi, come il nome della vostra label, Innervisions appunto, che con ottimi risultati portate avanti da qualche anno, coadiuvati da un altro sperimentatori musicale d’eccellenza, il plurivincitore della RA Top 100, Dixon. Diteci di più sulla vostra collaborazione, com’è nata l’idea di creare un etichetta insieme a Berkhan?
Ci conosciamo da un un bel po’ e con il tempo abbiamo deciso di ideare una nostra label. In quel momento non c’era nessuna label che coincideva con la musica che amavamo suonare, è per questo motivo che abbiamo deciso di fondarne una tutta nostra. Oggigiorno è tutto diverso, la nostra musica è diventata popolare, quindi è senza dubbio più facile produrla e promuoverla avendo un’infrastruttura già pronta per farlo.
Innervisions Showcase nei club più importanti del mondo, ma anche e sopratutto ‘Lost In A Moment’. In assoluto uno dei progetti più belli dell’attuale scena musicale, una serie di party in location incredibili, dal primo al Monastero del Poble Espanol fino al più recente sull’isola di Osea, passando per Montjuic, i Bagni di Fasilides, il castello di Calcione o l’isola artificiale di Pampus. Con un solo obiettivo, quello di perdersi, nella magia della musica e dei luoghi.
Ci anticipate qualcosa sulle prossime location e sui prossimi party?
Il prossimo anno ridurremo decisamente il numero degli eventi ‘Lost in a Moment’. Vorremo cercare di rendere questo evento ancora più speciale e intimo. E’ un obiettivo alto, lo so. Ma vale la pena provare.
Ma con tutti questi progetti non si rischia di perdere il filo conduttore? O quantomeno di distogliere l’attenzione dai vostri set? Non avete paura che la vostra qualità musicale possa un giorno risentirne?
Sono un drogato di musica e in ogni secondo libero che ho a disposizione cerco di trovare nuova musica da cui trarre ispirazione per le mie produzioni. Finchè ci sarà questo “fuoco” a guidarmi non dovrò preoccuparmi di nulla.
Una delle cose più interessanti del progetto Âme è la vostra divisione dei compiti: Kristian fa il dj, Frank si occupa dei live sets. Il perchè di questa scelta è già stato sviscerato in altre interviste, ma come convivete con questa scelta?
In generale quali sono i vostri giudizi sulle esibizioni dell’altro? C’è mai stata una volta in cui vi siete trovati in disaccordo totale sulla scelta musicale o sull’esibizione l’uno dell’altro?
Da quando ci siamo divisi i compiti le cose vanno sempre meglio. Ognuno ha trovato il suo ruolo, e mi auguro che questa separazione possa essere e rimanere la nostra fonte di ispirazione reciproca.

Âme brings me momeries from an old animated film, become in years a main spot of my infantry: “They’re not House, they’re not Techno, all they know is what they’re not…”
But trough all those doubts there is something that is wide and clear, Âme are unpredictable, always surprising, never similiar to themselves, sometimes even hardly recognizable.
Many times deejays looks for their own style, something that gave them a certain character, a personal sound, not Frank Wiedermann and Kristian Beyer, their research moves in a wider direction, the search of the sound of the future.
But there were a lot of times in which you had the chance to get it easier, like after the incredible boom of Rej, following that productive line would had gave you a lot of satisfactions, but with less efforts. What pushed you to change the pattern so fast?
I think it is a question of character. We don’t want to repeat ourselves and especially if we work together its harder to satisfy both of us.
Visionaries, but also introspective, like the name of your label suggest, Innervisions. A label ongoing, with greats results, for some years now, which you two direct alongside another excellent musical experimentalist, various time RA Top100 number 1, Dixon, tell us more about yours collaboration, how it’s born the idea of create a laber together with Berkhan?
We know each other for a every long time and by the time we had the idea to start our own label we felt that there was no platform for the music we would love to play out and release so we started our own company. Nowadays it looks different and the music we like is getting more and more popular so there is a way better infrastructure for getting it out.
Innervisions Showcases in the most important clubs all over the world but also ‘Lost In A Moment’. Absolutely one of the best project in actual music scene, a series of party in incredibles location, frome the very first at the Monastero del Poble Espanol in Barcellona to the most recent in Osea Island, and many more like Montjuic Castle, Fasilides Spa, Calcione Castle or the artificial island of Pampus, with one aim, get lost in the magic of those places and in the music.
Can you anticipate something about next locations and parties?
Next year we will definitely reduce the number of ‘Lost in a Moment’ events and we are trying it to make it even more special and intimate which is a high goal i know but worth a try.
With all the projects ongoing aren’t afraid of losing the path? Or to get distracted from your sets? Aren’t you afraid that one day your musical quality could be negatively influenced by all this movement?
I am still a music junkie and i use every spare second i have to find new music to play out or to inspire our music production as long as i have the fire to do that i am not worried.
One of the most interesting things about Âme’s project it’s your division of roles, Christian is the Dj, Frank do the live sets, the reasons of this choice has been already explained in other interviews so i want to ask you how do you live with this choice, I mean, generally how are your judgements to each other exhibition? Have you ever feel completely disappointed to the other’s musical selection or performance?
Actually since we do the separation our relationship got better and better…everyone found the place he loves the most so it can be sometimes that I am surprised by a live set of frank and hopefully he gets some inspiration while listening to set by mine.
