Techno Para Dos è il progetto elettronico sperimentale di Raul Villamil, caratterizzato da un‘audace e accurata miscela di melodie e strumenti, capace di trasportare l’ascoltatore in luoghi distanti, in cui si vivono sensazioni difformi e addirittura contraddittorie. Il suono particolare del talentuoso artista messicano è definitivamente una collisione tra il reale e l’astratto.
Il nuovo album “Drama” prosegue l’incredibile scia dei precedenti “Nos prometieron futuro” (2019), “Un breve frammento” (2020) e “HOPE” (2020).
Il disco offre un’iniezione di fiducia per quei momenti in cui ci si sente paralizzati e soli nel mondo. Un disco di 7 tracce che trascina l’ascoltatore nell’evoluzione della sottocultura sperimentale e dance-elettronica underground, dove suoni graffianti, voci e melodie evocative emanano una realtà sonora terrena e, nello stesso istante, celeste.
Abbiamo chiesto a Raul di raccontarci qualcosa in più sul suo nuovo lavoro discografico.
“Drama” riguarda sentimenti contrastanti, ricordi laceranti, ma anche illusioni e miraggi che distraggono dalla realtà, permettendo di sentirsi, ancora una volta, vivi. Quanto è importante il rapporto tra luce e ombre nella tua musica?
Quello che mi chiedi lo vedo come una questione di combinazione e contrasto, è importante proprio come lo è per un pittore che cercherebbe di generare questo equilibrio nel suono tra luce e ombra. Il che è molto soggettivo, dato che l’ombra non ha lo stesso suono per me e per te.
La tua musica emana sfumature primordiali e minimaliste. Quanto queste sono vicine alla vera essenza dell’uomo?
Ho difficoltà a definire cosa sia, per me, la vera essenza dell’uomo, tuttavia, credo che potrei rispondere parlando di come la musica sia un qualcosa che riguardi tutte le culture, così come il cibo, ad esempio. Senza musica l’essere umano non potrebbe nemmeno sussistere.
Un uomo paralizzato nel mondo: è questo il concetto che stai cercando di spiegare attraverso ritmi cadenzati e melodie evocative. Che cos’è che ci rende immobili in un mondo moderno sempre più caotico e confuso?
C’è da dire molto a riguardo, noi lo capitalizziamo ( il mondo) ovviamente, e molti altri problemi sociali derivano dal nostro sistema economico, come ad esempio la violenza, in Messico il livello di violenza a cui siamo abituati è troppo forte e tutto ciò paralizza e immobilizza l’artista, rallenta la creatività, allora non abbiamo altra scelta che se non quella di sublimarla e continuare con il nostro lavoro ed è particolare perché di fronte alle avversità emergono di volta in volta grandi capolavori. L’industria musicale è un mattone che tutti gli artisti improvvisamente si portano sulle spalle e un ostacolo che dobbiamo imparare a evitare. Dei manager culturali in Messico lasciano molto a desiderare, in generale con le loro onorevoli eccezioni.
Cosa speri che “arrivi” al pubblico che ascolta “Drama”?
Spero che percepiscano la musica e il suono come vogliono percepire la musica e il suono. Tutto nella vita è soggettivo, io spero semplicemente di trasmettere questo e sarei più che soddisfatto, in realtà faccio musica per me stesso, non ho altra intenzione che quella di soddisfare me stesso. Tuttavia, credo che parte del lavoro di un artista sia quello di nutrire il sistema nervoso degli altri e di generare sensazioni.
Un futuro musicale non troppo lontano: come lo immagini e come vorresti che fosse?
Libero, senza nepotismo o razzismo, andare ad ascoltare la musica non a vederla, senza frontiere per tutti, America Latina libera, musica democratica, elettronica avanzata, equità e soprattutto dignità per gli artisti migranti, emergenti, indigeni, musulmani…
l’arte è marginale.

Techno para dos is Raul Villamil’s experimental electronic project, characterized by a bold and accurate blend of melodies and instruments, capable of transporting you to places where you can experience different and even contradictory feelings. The particular sound of the talented Mexican artist is definitely a collision between the real and the abstract.
The new album “Drama” continues the incredible wake of the previous “Nos prometieron futuro” (2019), “Un breve frammento” (2020) and “HOPE” (2020).
The record offers a confidence boost for those moments when one feels paralyzed and alone in the world. A 7-track record that drags the listener into the evolution of the experimental and dance-electronic underground subculture, where scratchy sounds, voices and evocative melodies emanate an earthly and at the same time heavenly sound reality.
We asked Raul to tell us more about his new record work.
“Drama” is about conflicting feelings, tearing memories, but also illusions and mirages that distract you from reality, allowing you to feel, once again, alive. How important is the relationship between light and shadows in your music?*
What you are asking me I see as a matter of combining and contrasting, it is important just as a painter would try to generate this balance in the sound between Light and shadow. Which is very subjective since the shadow doesn’t sound the same to me as it does to you.
Your music radiates primordial and minimalist nuances. How close are these to the true essence of man?
I have a hard time defining what would be, for me, the true essence of man, however I think I could answer by talking about how music is something that all cultures have as well as food for example. Music is something that is something without which the human being could not even subsist.
A paralyzed man in the world: this is the concept you’re trying to explain through your cadenced rhythms and evocative melodies. What is it that makes us motionless in an increasingly chaotic and confused modern world?
There are many things, we capitalize on it of course, many other social problems arise from our economic system, such as violence, in Mexico the level of violence to which we are accustomed is too strong and all that paralyzes and immobilizes the artist, slows down creativity of , then we
have no choice but to sublimate it and continue with our work and it is peculiar because in the face of adversity great masterpieces emerge from time to time . The music industry is a brick that all artists suddenly carry on their backs and an obstacle that we have to learn to avoid, most
of the cultural managers in Mexico leave much to be desired, in general with their honorable exceptions.
What do you hope will ‘get through’ to the audience listening to
“Drama”?
I hope that they perceive music and sound as they want to perceive music and sound, everything in life is subjective, I simply hope to transmit and with that I am more than satisfied, in reality I make music for myself, I have no other intention than to satisfy myself. However, I think that part of the job as an artist is to nurture the nervous system of others and generate sensations.
A not too distant music future: how do you imagine it and how would you
like it to be?
Free, without nepotism or racism, go to listen to music not to see it, without borders, for everyone, free, Latin America, democratic music, advanced electronics, equity and above all dignify migrant, emerging, indigenous, Muslim artists …
art is fringe.
